* Banned group leader says Qureshi, Kaira, Dasti won through their support
* PML-N, PML-Q parliamentarians also sought help

LAHORE: The leader of a banned terrorist outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP), Muhammad Ahmad Ludhianvi, has alleged that at least 25 MNAs belonging to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) won the general elections with the votes and support of his party, a private TV channel reported on Sunday.
Talking to a private TV channel, Ludhianvi claimed that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jamshed Dasti, Qamaruz Zaman Kaira, Hayatullah Tareen, Khursheed Shah, Asghar Jutt, and Faisal Karim Kundi managed to win the elections from their respective constituencies with the support of the SSP.
He also claimed during the television programme that several MNAs and MPAs of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) had requested for his organisation’s support during the February 2008 general elections.
The SSP leader denied the perception that the SSP is working to carry out terrorist activities in the country. He reiterated that his organisation was not working against the country’s interests. He said that former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf had imposed sanctions on the organisation, but these sanctions were not supported by the parliament.
